Randall Jail Release Paths
Randall County Jail is the county's main adult booking facility. The Sheriff's arrest-through-arraignment explanation says a person arrested locally will usually be taken to the jail for identity questions, fingerprints, and property intake. A magistrate then considers probable cause and release conditions. The later booking-out entry matters because a court order alone does not prove the exact time county custody ended.
A bond, personal bond, dismissal or release order, time served, or sentence completion may lead to community release if no other hold exists. A transfer to TDCJ, Potter County, another county, the U.S. Marshals Service, or ICE means Randall custody ended but another authority took control. Death and a data correction can also remove a name from the live list. The jail register, release or transfer order, and recorded destination separate these events.
| Recorded event | What it establishes | Next check |
|---|---|---|
| Bond or personal bond | Conditional release from the listed hold | Confirm booking-out time and any other holds |
| Time served or sentence completion | The named custodial term ended | Check other cases and warrants |
| Dismissal or release order | Authority affecting a charge or hold | Match the order to the jail release line |
| Transfer | Custody passed to another agency | Search the receiving custodian |
Confirm Randall Jail Release Records
The official Randall County inmate search is a current-custody tool. Entries can show booking date and time, inmate ID, arresting agency, cause number, charge, issuing authority, disposition, bond information, and a booking image. A missing result is only a reason to keep checking. It is not a historical release record.
Use a sequence that preserves identifiers and follows custody across systems. The fuller county search and records route is also explained on the Randall County released-inmates home page.
- Search the current roster by the correct name. Save the search time, inmate number, cause number, and issuing authority when available.
- Check Texas IVSS-Counties and see whether Randall is selectable. Read any event literally, since participation and record retention can vary.
- Search the Randall Tyler court portal for the matching charge, bond order, dismissal, judgment, sentence, or transfer-related entry.
- Call the jail for current operational status. For proof of a past event, request the jail-register entry and booking-out, release, or transfer record.
- If the destination names another custodian, start a new search with that agency. Do not label a handoff as release home.

A focused request should identify the person and approximate booking date, then ask for the existing jail-register entry, booking sheet, booking-out or release record, release or transfer order, date and time, recorded disposition or destination, receiving agency, and any releasable booking photo. Requests may be filed through the Sheriff open-records page or the online county request form. The county also accepts designated requests at publicinfo@randallcounty.gov or 2309 Russell Long Boulevard, Suite 120, Canyon, TX 79015.
No special fixed fee, guaranteed delivery time, or public web-retention period for a Randall release sheet was found. Charges or redactions can apply. The county must provide existing public information subject to law, but it does not have to answer questions or create a custom report.
Randall Jail Release Fields
A useful Randall County Jail release record identifies both the end of local custody and what happened next. Names alone are weak matches, so compare a booking or inmate number, date of birth, cause number, charge, and issuing authority where lawful. Ask that the custodian preserve the record's exact words.
| Field | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Booking or intake number | Links the release to the correct custody event |
| Release date and time | Shows when Randall custody ended |
| Release authority or reason | Distinguishes bond, order, sentence end, and other outcomes |
| Disposition or destination | Shows community release or a custody handoff |
| Receiving agency | Directs the next locator search after transfer |
| Issuing authority | Routes the matching court or outside-agency check |
Texas Local Schedule PS treats the county jail register as permanent. Booking-in/out records and commitment, transfer, and release orders have a minimum retention of release or transfer plus two years. That retention does not require a public website to keep showing the record. Active-investigation, juvenile, medical, sealed, expunged, and other protected material may be withheld or redacted.
Note: A court judgment can explain the legal outcome, but the Randall booking-out line is the better source for actual custody end time.
Randall Jail ICE Transfers
Randall County Jail can hold people for more than one authority. The live roster's issuing-authority field may point to Randall courts, Amarillo Municipal Court, Potter County, or USM. An ICE inspection also documented the jail's federal and immigration relationship under a U.S. Marshals agreement. That regional role makes the receiving-agency field vital.
An ICE detainer requests notice before local release and can seek detention for up to 48 hours beyond the time a person would otherwise be released so ICE can assume custody. A Randall record marked release to ICE is therefore a transfer, not proof of return to the community.
The matched official source image below comes from ICE's detainer explanation. It helps identify why a local release time can begin a new period of custody.

When ICE is named, use the ICE Online Detainee Locator with an A-number or the person's name, date of birth, and country. ICE says its locator covers current detainees and people released from ICE within the past 60 days. A later absence proves nothing. For a federal prisoner, BOP becomes useful after designation; USMS has no general public released-person locator.
Randall Jail Expansion Context
Randall County Jail recently changed in physical scale. An Amarillo permit documented a $17.234 million, 96-bed, two-story addition for infectious-disease mitigation and added detention space at the South Georgia Street site. KFDA reported the expansion complete in April 2025 and said movement into the new pods would follow.
KFDA's report documents the completed Randall County Jail expansion.
The expansion supplies current facility context only. It does not establish an annual booking count, release count, average stay, or turnover rate, and no such verified figures were found. Release proof still comes from the individual jail-register and booking-out record.
Randall Jail Roster Limits
The official Randall County Sheriff (TX) mobile apps for iOS and Android can show current inmates, photographs, and bail functions. No recent-release mode was verified. The apps are useful if the web roster is unavailable, but they remain current-custody tools and cannot replace a historical release sheet.
Court records add legal context. Start with the Randall Tyler court portal and use the issuing authority to find the proper clerk. A bond order may authorize release after requirements and holds are resolved. A dismissal concerns a charge. A time-served judgment records the court's sentence and credit. None provides the exact jail-door time by itself.
- Release
- End of the named custodian's control, sometimes to the community.
- Transfer
- Movement from Randall County Jail to another authorized custodian.
- Discharge
- End of an agency's sentence or obligation, not a synonym for every jail departure.
- Detainer
- A request by another authority tied to notice and possible pickup.
